This is the 2nd Book to the Blood and Ash series, so please beware I will mention events from book 1.
Betrayed by Hawke, Poppy feels more alone and trapped than she ever felt as the Maiden. In AKOFAF we see Poppy struggle with her feelings towards the Prince, while her gifts also strengthen and change.
I loved every single minute of Poppy's journey. We see her at her lowest in the beginning, fall at certain points but picking herself back up stronger than before. What I loved most though was her emotional development. At one point she really struggled to differentiate her feelings about Casteele, and generally about the whole 'deal'.
Oh boy, the interactions between Poppy and Kieran. They're like siblings - the sarcasm was just so on point and hilarious. I loved when he just walked in on so many inappropriate occasions, and is so unfazed 😂.
Poppy and Casteele. Why do these boys not exist 😭. Their love is just amazing, and I loved when they finally stopped pretending. I have no words for how much I loved reading that journey of love and trust (also the steam 🔥🔥🔥🔥)
And finally, that ending 😱😱😱. I suspected something would happen (did NOT expect that though) and oh my god I literally screamed!! I wish I had the 3rd book 😭😭
So, needless to say: read the series. 5 stars. It's a must read. Yes, my top 5 have changed.
